“Have you heard about my baby? / Yes I tried, yes I tried, but I let her down / Heard about my baby? / Ooh yes, I tried and I let her down / Ooh, she burned me with her love / Yes, no other, no other will wear her crown…” – Have You Heard: John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers featuring Eric Clapton (composed by John Mayall)

  1. Hey John!
The song you’re probably thinking of, at least the one I’ve posted myself, is “Long Distance Operator” from the 1970 album “James Cotton Blues Band: Taking Care Of Business”. The song was written by Dylan and covered on this album by Cotton, who is also joined by Michael Bloomfield and Todd Rundgren on guitar(s).

Thanks for your support for my page, John. Sounds like you came of age in the most happenin’ place on the planet during the decades of the best music ever created. Good luck catching up on all that deliciousness.
    Always, Jude

  2. Jude:

You posted a song by James Cotton written by Dylan, but I can’t seem to find it again. I searched Amazon for a title that sounded familiar, but can’t find it. I would really appreciate it if you could send it again, or even better, let me know if it’s on one of his albums. I’m a Dylan addict and am trying to collect all his songs covered by others, and this one sounds unique and I most certainly do not have it.

Many thanks for your superb artwork and research on so many blues classics.

I was in S.F. in the 60’s and was so lucky so see the best of the best, but I did not then collect records (starving student syndrome)……..so, I’m catching up now.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    John
