“You couldn’t find the words to say it yourself / And now in my heart I know I can say what I really feel / Cause they said it really loud / They said it on the air / On the radio / Whoa, oh, oh / On the radio…” – Donna Summer

  1. Oh I know both songs, because I had an aunt who absolutely loved Donna, so whenever I’d go over to her place, she had her records on. It’s an additional reason Donna’s passing made me so sad, for my aunt is no longer here either…

I totally agree she was a great talent.

  2. Great anecdote, Alannah. I’d never heard that Bowie/Eno connection before and man, he was correct! She was so much more than a disco singer, she had range and such a powerful voice. She was cool! Felt very sad when I heard the news of her death…

My favorite songs are a bit more obscure than her mega hits but if you aren’t already familiar, check out “Love Is In Control (Finger On The Trigger)” and “The Wanderer”.

  3. So sad, she was beautiful, and had such a voice. ‘I feel love’ was unique, and changed music, and Mr Bowie himself said this about it: “One day in Berlin … Eno came running in and said, ‘I have heard the sound of the future.’ … he puts on ‘I Feel Love’, by Donna Summer … He said, ‘This is it, look no further. This single is going to change the sound of club music for the next fifteen years.’ Which was more or less right.”

    RIP
